Dragon Medical One Training - Step by Step Commands

Create Dragon Medical One Step-by-Step Commands to automate hotkeys, waits, text entry, and multi-step workflows with one voice command.

Updated 7/29/2026
With Dragon, dictation is only the tip of the iceberg. You can also automate tasks that normally require clicking. Step-by-Step Commands let you program functions, timing, and key combinations so one voice command can run a multi-step workflow. This tutorial assumes you already have Dragon Medical One installed.

What Step-by-Step Commands can do

Use Step-by-Step Commands when you want Dragon to run a sequence for you instead of repeating the same clicks and keystrokes by hand.
- Press a grouping of keys for a standard command - Insert text or templates - Toggle the microphone on or off - Navigate through web forms and EHR fields

How to open Manage Step-by-Step Commands

Access Manage Step-by-Step Commands by left-clicking the flame icon on the DragonBar, or by saying "Manage Step-by-Step Commands". Select the + symbol in the lower portion of the menu on the left to create a new command series. Enter a Name, an optional Description, and a Spoken Form (how you trigger the command with your voice). From there, add the steps needed to complete the task.
